Dawn Smith Grant died on November 6, 2024. She was my care provider and is survived by her two adult children and her four small, still growing grandchildren. She was 62 years old. I first met Dawn at the home I still live in nearly 12 years ago, with my mother. She took me in pretty quick and, boy was it messy the first 10 years. Dawn and the girls and myself, got along great. She started her care providing business 30 years ago and was like a mother to all of us. She took us to lots of places like karaoke and Valentine's Day dancing and more. There was never a moment where she wasn't generous of her time, energy or money. She stayed up all night doing paperwork for our meetings and worked so hard, even when we were asleep. Though I never knew Dawn all of my life I am super glad to say the most that when her mother died on Good Friday in 2017, she came to my room crying.
